In this FIIA Comment, Idlib’s crucible moment, a mapping of actors and interests around the current military escalation in Idlib is complemented by two possible scenarios. It will be of interest for all those working on the war in Syria, be it from the angle of conflict analysis/resolution, jihadism or foreign policy/geopolitics.

In terms of implementation of POWERS international project on October 15th 2019 the delegation from Dokuz Eylul University visited Voronezh State University. The DEU delegation was represented by Dr. Müge Aknur and Prof. Gül M. Kurtoğlu Eskişar. They presented a study module “European Security Issues” for the students of International Relations Department.

Research seminar “Global and local wars on crime and terror: the development and circulation of international, regional and national schemes in Europe and beyond” was arranged and carried out at Science Po Bordeaux
On 6 June 2019 research seminar was arranged and carried out by research team at Science Po Bordeaux (France) jointly with researchers from other relevant research institutions with the aim of preparation for research workshop “(In)security and the dynamics of regionalism in the Euro-Mediterranean and Black Sea regions” to be carried out at Science Po Bordeaux on 28-29 November 2019.

Dr. Alla Akulshina, director of the Centre for International projects and programmes of VSU, coordinator of the POWERS Network, participated in the international scientific conference “Migration issues in Europe and their solutions” which was held at Baltic Federal University Immanuel Kant in Kaliningrad. The conference was organized by the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences with the support of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation and the Russian World Foundation.

The conference proceedings "Non-state actors and the security of the Euro-Mediterranean Area region" are available on POWERS Network website. The conference was organized by the Jean Monnet Network “PEACE, WAR AND THE WORLD IN EUROPEAN SECURITY CHALLENGES” (POWERS) and took place on the 29-31 January at the University of Jordan in Amman.
