
Jean Monnet Network PEACE, WAR AND THE WORLD IN EUROPEAN SECURITY CHALLENGES POWERS International scientific conference Non-state actors and the security of the Euro-Mediterranean Area region 29 – 31 January 2019
The Center for Strategic Studies (CSS) will host an international conference in Amman concerning the role of non-state actors and their impact on the MENA region, Russia and neighbouring countries with a focus on Europe.
The conference goal lies on the need to emerge and debate the impact of the Non-state actors in further key countries like Libya, Syria, Yemen, Egypt, and other African countries and their indirect effects on the immediately neighbouring countries including the Euro-Mediterranean area, Europe and Russia.
Following the collapse of the Islamic State the conference will be an occasion to deeply review and investigate the new security threats to the targeted countries including Europe, MENA, Russia and respectively neighbouring countries. The conference intends to pose a multidisciplinary and cooperation-oriented approach aimed to discuss issues concerning the direct and indirect implications of such events in the all investigated areas in terms of terrorist attacks, illegal migration, drugs trades, economic shocks etc. Furthermore, the exploration of new potentially unknown threats and risks for the security within the individuated areas will represent the core of the all debates in the light of proposing new security policies and transnational cooperation between the implicated countries.
Target groups
The conference is aimed to host and gather internationally reputed scholars and experts in the field from key countries, including Europe, MENA and Russia in order to promote a scientifically and evidenced-based debate on the future security scenarios in the Euro-Mediterranean region.
The conference will be interdisciplinary and crossing-expertise oriented by gathering not only academics and researchers but also favouring the debate between practitioners in the field, on the ground experts, diplomats, security bodies, professionals, policy and decision makers and the whole potential interested bodies from the all interested countries.
Impact
It is expected to release conference proceeding able to summarize and put in evidence the main debated issues and topics so to promote a consistent future development of debate for stakeholders and policy makers in Europe and neighbouring countries, MENA region, Russia.
